Una Cocinera

I love to cook.  I love to bake.  I love to try new recipes and talk to others about recipes.  It has been a neat experience to live here in Peru and figure out how to tweek recipes or to learn new recipes that include the ingredients we find here.  One thing that I have REALLY enjoyed is eating Manuela's food.  She is such a great cook.  I know I have bragged on her before but REALLY, she is excellent.  She cooks a Peruvian dish for my family every Thursday.  I shared with Larissa (my teammate here) that I want to make a book on one of the photo sights with recipes, pictures and directions for all of her dishes.  This will be a little project that I will slowly work on.  Honestly, a big reason that I enjoy Manuela cooking on Thursday is that I can get some other tasks done and not worry about cooking a big lunch.  Today, I decided to take a cooking lesson with Manuela during this time.  Greg said that I will be in BIG trouble if we end up back in the states and I don't know how to make some of our favorite Peruvian dishes.  So... stay tuned on my recipe tab for "Recipes By Manuela."  And later on I will compile all that I have documented and put it together in a book.  Won't that be a neat keepsake to have one day?

If you are familiar with Peruvian dishes, here are some of the ones she has cooked for us:

Lomo Saltado

Atomatada

Aji de Gallina

Pastel de Papas

Rocoto Relleno

Pollada
